Breaking Barriers, Building Dreams!
Hello friends!
September proved to be an exceptionally fantastic month and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
It seems like the year is passing by quickly, doesn't it? If you feel like you haven't accomplished much yet, remember that sometimes things take time to materialize. Life's challenges affect everyone and you are not alone in this. In the words of Sarah Jakes Roberts “There’s nothing wrong with not having figured out life yet, but so much can go wrong when you pretend that you have.”
At the heart of Leading Ladies Africa is a vision to create a world where every African woman and girl can become who she aspires to be, irrespective of her location, class, status, or color.
That's why every month, we share the inspiring stories of remarkable women who are achieving incredible feats. For the September edition of our LLA Spotlight Series, we had the privilege of interviewing Mimi Kalinda, the Chief Executive Officer of Africa Communications Group.
Whilst discussing entrepreneurship, she emphasizes that it begins with the individual—with you. Understanding yourself, having faith in your abilities, recognizing your capabilities, and being at ease with the possibility of setbacks, which are all essential components of a successful entrepreneur. Read the full interview here.
In the beginning of the month we launched our Career Conversations series, dedicated to sharing the narratives of accomplished career women while also fostering inspiration for the next generation of women and girls striving to establish their careers. Among our featured guests were Cynthia Mwangi, a Communications Specialist at Cyn Communications, and Magdaleen Scott, CEO of KVD Communications. Be sure to catch up with both conversations to get all the valuable nuggets these corporate leaders shared.

This September, we also started our Career Quick 5 series, and what an exciting start it's been! We've had the privilege of hosting two remarkable women who are true powerhouses in their respective fields; Alexia Beckford who is a program manager at the Jamaican Technology and Digital Alliance, and Chisom Nwokwu, a software engineer at Microsoft and Tech author. In these captivating conversations, we covered a series of topics—from the importance of aligning your values with your career path to the transformative influence of power shoes and morning mantras. Amidst the multitude of exciting events that unfolded in September, here are some of our most cherished highlights:
Meet Thato Kgatlhanye, Founder of the Solar Schoolbags
Meet The LLA Columnists
Yemisi Falaye, Osamu Nkengfack and Iris Irumva, these remarkable women graced the pages of this month's LLA Interviews. Each of them shared their distinctive stories of dedication and the pathways that led them to triumph.
Always remember, the most effective way to undermine something that is positive is through comparison. Avoid comparing your own journey to someone elses’.
Warmest Wishes,
Team LLA ❤️
